Thanks to the hard working efforts by Vyron Kinson and SCBDA BDA members on bringing the chapter back to the state of South Carolina. South Carolina Black Deaf Advocates was established in the early 1990s as the 19th Chapter under the auspices of National Black Deaf Advocates and is a member of the Southern Region. South Carolina BDA became the first Chapter with a state name. In 2004, Miss South Carolina BDA Sophia McFadden won the Miss Black Deaf America.
