Hello, my name is Sheryl Emery. I am the President of National Black Deaf Advocates. I am a black female with grey hair. I am wearing a silver sweater with a fluffy neck. My glasses are black. My background is black.

This is a message from NBDA officers.

This week millions of us will vote for the office of the US president and vote on other important issues. History has shown us that election days can sometimes cause upheaval & potential for violence.

We as Black peoples have fought hard for the right to vote and keep it. Jan 6 is an example of what can go wrong post election. We the leadership of NBDA are concerned about potential violence post Election Day. Especially in swing states.

This is a reminder to stay safe, be aware of what is going on around you. Ensure you have extra cash, gas, food and water for a few extra days until potential conflicts or unrest settles down.

We expect we will not know the results of the election for a few days. Please remain watchful.
