Detailed Job Description
The Assistant Director for NTID’s Office of Online Learning assists with designing online instruction for a range of demographics including Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students, faculty and adult learners; for a variety of modes including online synchronous, online asynchronous, blended, and HyFlex to support the development of accessible credit-bearing courses, career-focused training, webinars and professional development training. Essential to this role is familiarity with the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing user experience (UX); and the importance of providing meaningful opportunities for them to interact with the online instructor, content and each other.
Department/College Description
NTID’s Office of Online Learning is responsible for supporting NTID online instructors and programs. This includes assistance with designing engaging online courses and expanding online initiatives for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing learners.

Required Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 2 years’ proven working experience designing materials for online instruction
• Experience with digital technologies and curriculum planning skills
• Experience with course development software and hands-on experience with at least one Learning Management System (LMS)
• Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and WCAG 2.0
• Able to articulate the difference between in-person vs online pedagogy
• Experience providing direct service and/or consulting to others
SPECIALIZED SKILLS
• Experience designing instruction for Deaf/hard-of-hearing learners
• Able to manage multiple projects
• Able to communicate in English and writing
Preferred:
• Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Proficiency/Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills strongly preferred.
